Kielbasa Surprise: a tasty soup recipe

Ok so here is the surprise, it tastes good!  I don't know where my Mom got this recipe, but it is one she made when we were little and now I make it for my family.  It's a pretty simple and cheap one to make.  You could probably do it in a crock pot, but don't quote me on that.  Its a good one to do while camping too.  So here it is:

1 lb kielbasa ( min. you can put more in if you like )
aprox. 3-4 lbs red potatoes ( I use klondike rose ones, yummy!! )
3-4 medium onions
2-3 medium green bell peppers
Worcestershire sauce
5 beef bullion cubes
5 chicken bullion cubes
salt
pepper
italian seasoning herbs
water

  • Slice the kielbasa into 1/4 inch circles then cut those in half ( so you have half moon shapes )
  • chop onions and peppers, leave 'em a little chunky
  • cut potatoes into chunks
  • Put it all into a pot
  • Shake some worcestershire sauce in
  • put some hot water in a bowl ( to melt cubes )
  • unwrap cubes, put them in water and wait till they are soft, then moosh them.
  • pour water into pot over mixture of veggies and meat, add more water till it just barely covers the ingredients
  • Salt, Pepper and about 1 tbs of italian herbs
  • put a lid on it, take it off once it bubbles.
  • cook on medium heat till potatoes are done.
  • Taste the broth when you are done to see if it needs more seasoning, you don't want a bland broth with it. You may have to scoop some of the juice out and add a bullion cube or so.

We like to have some crusty bread with this to soak, you may want to try it too.

Let me know what you think!  I really like this soup and my kids eat it up like it is going out of style.
